“Tree for Life” proudly present:

Event : Shah Alam “River & Trees for Life” Tree Planting @ Seksyen 7
Date : 18th December 2011 (Sunday)
Time: 8.00 to 11.30am
Venue : Dusun Tasik Sekyen 7, Shah Alam

Our target is to plant 5,000 trees on this date. So, please come in full force to make this event a success.

Program:
8.00 am Arrival of volunteers, registration and light refreshments
8.30 am Arrival of VIPs
8.45 am Arrival of Dato Bandar of Shah Alam
9.00 am Tree planting
11.00 am Refreshment and end

All participants are compulsory to bring along the following :
- Gardening gloves
- Sturdy shoes
- Cap with brim
- Water tumbler

Organizers of the event will provide the following :
- Gardening Tools
- Water (in dispensers)
- Refreshments
- Rubber boots

Carpooling session:
Gathering Point: A&W, Petaling Jaya (Next to Taman Jaya LRT Station and opposite Amcorp Mall)
Gathering Time: 7.00 – 7.30am (Depart at 7.30am)

If you're coming from Klang, I suggest you go there by yourselves as Petaling Jaya is way further than the planting site :)

Unfortunately, KPA will not be joining this event as it's the holidays and there is no possible way to gather students for a meeting or an announcement. However, KPA is constantly updating the Facebook site and keeping in touch with this volunteering activity as it contributestremendously to nature and to the education of our students in SMK ACS Klang.

Still, we would like to take the initiatives to encourage outsiders, members and friends to participate in this meaningful event taking place in Shah Alam this coming weekend. If any of you are interested, do refer to the above and follow the instructions stated for your registration to obtain your certificate of verification. This activity of planting trees might look troublesome and odd for a few people but trust me, it's an experience you shouldn't miss. Plus, it doesn't take much of your time, it's like an exercise in the morning. Really.

Among other many teachers, Pn. Nor Salwati was invited to INTI College to attend a very meaningful ceremony organised by the DMC of INTI College. It was an event where the students of DMC shows their appreciation towards their past school.

I don't know what to describe this heartfelt event. It was really fast and simple but not just simple, short but meaningful and very touching. It almost made our teacher cry. Adrian Leong, our former KPA representative made a huge calendar for our teacher :) It's placed in the Green Cube now. Sho ugly. HAHAHAHAHA!

Adrian Leong: I placed a lot of colours on the calendar. Colours make people happy. So, if people like Belinda or Wei Shen makes my teacher sad or angry, the calendar might cheer her up. *sniff* (SOMETHING LIKE THAT LA)

October's Recycling Campaign 2011!

We had our last Recycling Campaign this year 2011!

To summarize the entire event, our recycling campaign was s real success! *clapsclapsclaps!*

Our Nature Society members were all very cooperative and hard working. Many of them might be slow and blur because they were new at this but we had a number of our previous KPA members to help us in-trainings, making the entire outcome superbly great :) They all arrived in time and handled their stations well.

For a Sunday, having our bin more than half full was better than expected. This was because one week before the Recycling Campaign while we were distributing flyers, there were already a few Newspapermen and other people collecting recycable items. Means our collectables are down to half :( But we managed great anyway! Weeeeeee!

We even found this! ;

Khye Siang found this on one of the boxes we were going to recycle on that day :) Doesn't it feels good to know that someone acknowledges your hard work on recycling?

Besides that, Pn. Nor Salwati also came to visit our progress when she wasn't even feeling well! I think she was really impressed that there were still so many loyal KPA members coming back to school just to help out in our regular Recycling Campaigns :') Thank you guys for coming!

As for the area we 'attacked', we covered a really really huge area as you can see from the marvelous beautiful map below.

Huge right?! I colour one you know *showsoff*! I know Bak Kut Teh is where it shouldn't be. LOL. I have a very bad sense of direction, not that I know of until now :(

The not so good side would be us having problems with wet collectables, aggressive, big and scary dogs and insufficient space to transfer things with the car. (Specifically, a huge washing machine where I do not know why our fellow ex-KPA member decided to push it all the way from the housing area to school just with a trolley. *coughKhyeSiangcough*)

But all-in-all, it was indeed an excellent event. Twenty thumbs up to all our Nature Society members! Did I say that we ended early as well? Oh, yes we did! :D

The day ended with nothing but a bowl of tasty mi-hun-ker as always lusted by our fellow KPA members, ye' old and ye' new. Yummm!

The Tree Planting Task.

On the 25th September 2011, The Nature Society of SMK ACS Klang participated in a tree planting event called 'Shah Alam River & Trees for Life' :)

On that Sunday, our KPA members were given a chance to experience planting trees in a public area. We arrived at the planting site by 8am and was given a short briefing about the entire activity. We were even taught how to plant a tree correctly as any minor mistake would cause the tree to grow disorderly or it might not grow at all :(

After giving the instructions, we divided ourselves into a group of 5 and started to plant. he organizers were really considerate having the land already dug for our convenient. Everybody was picking random spots. Some only a few steps from the other trees to plant the selected tree. The activity briefly ended after 2 hours or more and the entire planting ground was almost covered by small little trees.

The people and the atmosphere there were very friendly and helpful. I guess this was because everyone was doing something meaningful and important. Those little trees will grow like our future generations and they get bigger day by day. I am so looking forward to go back there the next time and say "I planted that beautiful tree there" :) I like that feeling.

Hopefully, our KPA members enjoyed themselves throughout the entire planting work. It was a great day outdoors and appreciating the beauty of nature :3 We hope that we would be able to join this activity again in the future if given an opportunity.

We would like to thank Sime Darby and the Property Division and Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA) for organising this generous tree planting activity with the objective to rehabilitate and conserve the environment. We would also like to thank Eco Warriors Malaysia very much for the great information and opportunity to join this event :)

Do The Right Thing! Be A Superhero!

As you can see, KPA'sgot a new batch of board members now (!!!!) and we’re fuelled (organically!) andready to continue the legacy of;

spreading the word on greening the environment and to instill awareness of theimportance of a greener globe among students, teachers and all around.

Serving nature to no extent through the Nature Society of SMK Methodist (ACS)Klang :D :D :D

If you all must know, KPA’s not going to go BLUE anymore :3 Instead , we'vecome up with an idea inspired by our seniors of 2007/2008, 2008/2009, 2009/2010and 2010/2011 which is – We’re going to save Earth by decreasing the pollutionon trash.

Let’s just say I’m really serious about this. No, don’t just say, I’ve decidedto be really SERIOUS D:<<<< about this.

As obvious as it is, trash had been the biggest, largest and most unsolvedproblem faced by mankind this and now. At home, in school, on the roads, andanywhere at all, littering had somehow become a lifestyle instead of a badhabit made by human beings.
People tend to think that the trash that they’ve thrown on the ground willeventually be picked up by someone else (like government hired workers) butlittle did they know that if they are ignorant towards the fact that trashbelongs in the bin, then everyone else might so be thinking that way too!

As oblivious as we are, the worthless or discarded material or objects we calltrash/garbage have so not only affected the way we live but had also alreadyaffected the way the entire world works.

Everywhere through various networks we are told and reported that climates arechanging, unpredictable phenomenon’s are occurring, the ice in the coldestplaces are melting, diseases are spreading, animals and plants are dying andhumans are suffering but that’s not all they’re going to say. There will bemore. There ARE more.

As committed as I am in the perseverance of the environment, I believe greeningthe world and saving the animals wouldn’t be enough if the river is not cleanenough for fishes to swim in, animals continued to be sacrificed due to ourdisposals, air still polluted and most importantly, humans still ignorant.

If you could see, many of the problems stated aboveare basically formed from the garbage we throw without hesitation andconsideration. Many in this life still do not know how these wastes thrown willaffect us in the future if we don’t handle it right.

This concludes to thereason why trash had become my main theme for this year 2011/2012 - SAY NO TO LITTERING.Thisparticular year would be mostly about saving Mother nature through clearingtrash.

Why glue yourself to the computer all day long just to stare blankly into themagic square box and be more and more FAT everyday? That’s it, I said fat. Whynot come out with us to do some EASY CLEANING AND CLEARING while SAVING NATURE AND(future) HUMAN LIVES & LOSE FAT AT THE SAME TIME?! WIN-WIN SITUATION HERE,CAN’TYOUSEE! It’s time to make peoplerealize that Mother Earth needs them now than ever by easily killing one nastyhabit – LITTERING.

Don't stop reading! I’m not done with this year's plans! I hope you're interested! Please be!

This time of the year,we're going to go over the boundaries. Instead of starting nature only inschool, we are going to reach out to community and join the world! This willnot only effect the community and encourage them to start loving nature, itwill also educate our KPA members about the importance to save nature not onlyin school but anywhere they are.

These outside activities (nature concerned) will helpour KPA members mature and be able to:

Understand the conflicts faced by environmentalists to confront community.
Find ways to overcome and solve the problem.
Lastly, carry out the solutions and plans to make the environment better.

This will not only make community acknowledge us in a more positive way butalso realize that age does not matter when it comes to contributions towardsthe environment as we come in an image of students.

Other than making nature-contribution into a habit of our KPA members, thiswill also help them in their leadership skills, communication skills and theright cooperation attitude.

Not forgetting, MAKE MORE FRIENDS!

Just for an addition to the sad case of trash around the world, (actually) landfillsare slowly conquering our lands inhectares as we speak. Even governments of many countries are trying to figureout ways to dispose this accumulated waste to make more space for development. Thisis for me, worst than if the British starts taking over us again! At least wedon’t die when we go under the Britain’s but if we suffocate of trash, I’d beoverwhelmed.

Lastly, I would like all of you to know that many activities outside of schoolwill be taking place often by us to further enhance the enthusiasm and studiesof nature around Malaysia! This means, more outside programmes! So, I urge allof you (insider or outsider), please don’t hesitate to ask if any of you nature lover's outside needshelp in molding (I hope I used this right) greenery throughout Malaysia!

Why?

Because everyone can be a superhero. People never know who you are even afteryou have saved them a dozen times :P That’s how a superman roll right? OH YEAH.

Hello, people! I hope you guys are still keeping in touch with this long neglected blog! I sincerely apologize for the lack of updates and attention given to this blog due to undefined reasons. However, get ready because this blog is going to be back in action from now on!

All of us have been recently working like machines studying for SPM.

It is not right to say that Nature will wait. But take this as an investment.

If we fly the colors of SPM. We can apply to be leaders, Administrators, and many more decision makers.

Then we can make a difference in a mass-scale.

Currently we do not have any events planned. Even the other clubs are halting much of the events because of SPM.

The Form 4s of the school are supposed to be assigned with these. But frankly, the population of Form 4 intakes this year was least to expectations.

No worries. As I listen, they were allowing joins of The Form 6 once again because not only the clubs of Form 1-5 are less supported, the clubs of Form 6 are below adequacy.

Win-win situation.

The KPA trip to Cherating is considered the best trip ever.

Well It'll remain it's reputation until It's forgotten about or replaced with memories of a better trip.

Moving on. We must admit, (even though we don't realize it) This trip was also educational.

Don't remember? Let's recap.

We learned alot about them turtles.

We learned how fisherman catch sotong, and sotong are attracted to bright spotlights.

We learned that you need to be silent and-

(not paranoid that the fisherman are feeding us to some sea-monster)

while catching fishes or we'll scare the fish away.

Etcetera.

are regretting this decision.

The trip to Cherating is tomorrow, and there were lesser people than expected.

Less people means more sotongs for us to catch.

Well done to all of you whom managed to come with you. And the rest of you can just lie down in front of a Shark and let it consume you unless you have a better reason than laziness!

Terms and conditions applied that so happen if you were eaten by a shark and then is interrogated (hell knows how) you cannot mention this blog's name which you would swear an oath to. This advice is highly unreccomended to people with weak heart and cannot swim faster than a Shark.

Too bad for the Upper six that they could not join our trip to Cherating to know more about Aquatic animals but instead have to find out more about being in court.

These reasons are comprehensible.

The truth was..
(It might be unbearable to read)
Please, if there are any kids there, do ask them to turn away.
They'll be embezzled after listening that Flyer distribution was indeed,
Beyond Expectations!
The flyers were practically distributed to almost every house wanted..and more.
There were some change of plans half way, and it was executed.

Despite some stops to random houses whom has early birds chor-ing their house and explaining our activity, we pulled through quick and swift.

If I think I saw correctly, I might have seen a little tear of satisfaction come out of the president.

During the industrial revolutionary era, the race for country modernity, our fathers did make irresponsible and perhaps consequential decisions, but this was mainly because they did not look at the long run, and perhaps they did not have the proper technology or equipment to dispose of the waste of the industrial's fruits.

Now, the sons of our fathers are gifted with modernity, but an unsteady ground, from the pollution caused in the past. We have acquired ample amounts of enough money, resources, and technology more than enough to fight back and calm the monster which was given the name: Pollution. By Ignorance and lack-of-awarance,
One would ask: What are the consequences of it?

"The earth doesn't need us, we need the earth. All we had to do....is get out of the way"

By viewing the lone trailer, one would be now aware of what humans has done to earth and it may be beneficial for mankind, but what about nature?

The KPA Is the initiative whom cater to enthusiastic teenage nature-initiative gonnabes and are always welcoming new members.

Our objective is to instill awareness and ways and methods for a greener tomorrow, by mass-scale and practical scales.
This year, (2010) KPA's theme would be Going Blue, a highly neglected subject.
Some basic information about it:

A friend asks another to drink from the lake, the other would abruptly answer: no way!
What scares us from drinking non-filtered water? We used to do that 40 years ago. Lakes, streams, till the extend of pipe waters.

Pollution of water.

From this pollution it has instilled fear into every one of us that drinking non-filtered water is bad.

This runs in a two way-death. Even the green side of earth is being threatened by this.

Materials wasted to create these luxurious filters(which now is considered a necessity) is also made using materials from the woods. Hence not only it affects the water, but also land.

When one says: The Oceans of Malaysia, first things comes to mind is the deep blue seas, the wide sandy beaches, the fishes fishing around as we have read. Let aside all of the beautiful brochures, Let aside the proclaims of industrial sites saying they dispose well and most of all, let aside air pollution which has been caused.

If we look at how Malaysia has been for the past 5 years, The ocean! How bad has it become?

Put it in general terms, Every sea-critters are on their way to sheer destruction

To excruciate the facts:

The River Crocodile(lives in swampy areas) which might be considered dirty are being extinct! Imagine, how terrible it is that the creature which also once lived in dirty areas could die from the amount of pollution they're taking in.

As to look at the scale globally..

Looking at the scales, I doubt us;South East Asia:Malaysia are doing a good job.
We have to act now If we want do save nature. But if one doesn't know anything, he couldn't take action, KPA shall equip you with everything you need to know about these actions to be taken.

Moreover, there are already initiatives performing these which has taken notice of us. Shall I take this time to promote their website

Inadequate Projection

Today (14/5/2010) The KPA is mentioned to be specially involved in the "Gotong-Royong" of ACS Klang.

There was not many students who attended the event in general. But for the Nature Society in the other hand, had the right amount of attendants.

As our 'achievements' today would be mainly the update on the green cube, which leads to some planning how we would recycle the banner which was proudly presented and displayed in front of the school.

Moving on. After we were done with the updating of the green cube, we proceeded to the weather forecast area. Which we then trimmed the grass which were growing dangerously long.

As of that, we were done with the chores which were required to be performed.

The KPA members then split up and helped our consecutive classes with grooming of the school.

Overall, the event was somehow contributing to the school.

The KPA's next challenge would be studying for the mid-term exams.

As Midnight oil burns, the KPA members would be prepared.

First of all, I deeply apologise for posting the Gotong-Royong post so late ; which is TEN days after the day.

Genting Trip!

On 9th and 10th of April, there was a trip to Genting Highlands!

Wong started grouping peoples and to their rooms...

Everyone hands up! No la, just checking their air-cond.

Why do people check their air-cond the first thing they go on board huh?

It was a fun journey to there overall. The 1 hour trip there felt like 10 minutes.

It was raining a little bit as well, making the mood a little bit romantic I suppose?

Then everyone arrived at the cable car station, and retrieved their packs of "nasi lemak"s.

And then the 3km+ cable car....

And when we arrived at First World Hotel, everyone retired to their rooms and then gathered up for SnowWorld. Sadly, we can't bring cameras inside and so there were no picture.

And then the next day the group are off to the Outdoor Theme Park!

Phew, so after playing, playing, playing, playing and PLAYING. It was time to go back...

Everyone regrouped and walked to the cable car station.

It is said that a picture paints a thousand words, while a video paints 10,000 words per second.

Let aside that, this picture actually describes the state of most clubs in ACS recently because Form 6 and Form 3/4/5 clubs are now considered two different factions. Tense is high and it is a Disadvantage yet an advantage for most of us. Kpa, unlike most sinking clubs, stayed frosty and still maintains most of their members (and even new ones).

Just for you maggots whom missed the meeting today. There's an event on Saturday which KPA as having high relevance to the event has to come. Gotong-royong. The time for this is 7.30 AM to 12.30 AM. Whomever who's absent is just asking just asking for a Section 8- and will recieve it! Be there.

A very brief update.

I missed the recent meeting and inquired Hao Jia for some quick info.

So this is what I manage to absorb :

1) Recycling campaign is postponed to the month of December.*Crowds going 'Awwwww'* Yeah I know, =(. Date is still uncertain but it's definitely inside the month of December.
2) Penang trip cancelled. Next year there'll be a trip during the holiday. May or June if I'm not mistaken.

Hi, It's Wayne here.

First of all, not to be negative-minded, but I'm pretty sure everyone agree that, with all the banging from the fireworks set off by irresponsible individuals and groups, many people couldn't concentrate on their studies and previously those who are taking their exams(form 4's)couldn't do very well with all these constant disturbance.

I too myself, was shocked many..many..many times when I'm taking my exam, and the formulas and ideas all banged away as well.

Other students' and teachers' safety is threatened as well. Who knows one day those people throw a firecracker on your head or near you? You MIGHT get injured! I am concerned about my own safety and the others.

And I'm also EVEN SURE that everyone would agree with me to take strict and thorough actions at those smokers who smoke at the toilet.

Not only it pollutes the school area, but second-hand smoking is proven to be far more dangerous.

Let me ask you a simple question - do you want to increase your risk of getting Cancer?

The teachers are closing not only one eye on those people, but BOTH.

If there is a day where we can use our school toilet without smelling nicotine, tobacco, carbon monoxide and all those malevolent smokes, it's a miracle.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not degrading the school's reputation.

ACS is a school where we successfully nurture students with excellent SPM results.

But there is a saying - a rotten apple spoil the whole....uh...something something lah.

What I'm trying to say is actions must be taken at students with disciplinary problems.

i.e. Smokers at toilets(which the teachers can nab, EASILY).

The teachers can just enter the toilet when they're smoking and go like..

"Ok you, you and you, oh you too, yeah you the one who's trying to keep the cigarette away but I still can prove you're smoking with all the smoke in your lungs. You all come with me to the office/police station. I'm calling up your parents."

But did the teachers do this? No.

Experts have said that 90% of teenage smokers gradually become drug addicts, because they want something new and more stimulating.

But I have to say those who play with firecrackers are a harder nut to crack.

As there's many hiding spots for them to stash their 'goods'.

Now even the police is paying a 'visit' our school.

Right. Bye bye Yun Ming. So, I'm Wayne. The new media guy. Hello, and first of all I would like to thank Wei Loong for granting the special request from me to be changed to a Media guy. Well, allow me to clarify myself. I was previously positioned as Club Plans dude. These are the following lame excuses :

a) I know NOTHING about planning.
b) ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
c) I am much well rehearsed in handling media stuffs.
d) I have a D-SLR, which will come in handy when updating the blogs with funny and interesting pictures in the future. (Cos' I can straight away post the pictures I have taken and there's no need to give it to the person in charged of media, and this is much more convenient) =)
e) I can work better with my classmate - Aoki, in handling media stuffs.
f) I seriously, seriously have no experience nor skills in planning events.

6 excuses, enough right? :D

Now, I hereby promise to everyone that I will do my best in updating the blog as regular and as funny as I am able to do so.

And the examinations are around the corner for Form 4 and not to forget 'Judgement Day' for the Form 5 dudes.

Your Media Guy's Final Words.

I'm a very sentimental person. Especially in times like this. I've been attached to this blog for 13 months now, and just like that, I'm passing everything about, of and in this blog down.

Here's my final words as Media Guy, well, as was Media Guy. hahaha. I remember the AGM back in 2008. I wasn't suppose to be Media In-charge. I wasn't! Nor was I supposed to be the PKC guy! hahaha I was supposed to get so much more, but alas, a screw up happened, and I was PKC guy. Betcha didn't know that! ;) But over my dead body was I going to be PKC guy (again!) (I was PKC guy in 2007/2008). So I asked dad to give me this post. And ta-da! :D

And then remember the time this blog joined the annual Weblog Awards? We participated under the Best Educational Blog category and we actually got shortlisted. Yeah! I was so damn excited when I recieved the "Congratulations, you're a finalist e-mail", I straight away smsed dad at 4 am in the morning. We came in second last for that award, but its okay. I count it as a superb achievement reaching the finals of such HUGE international awards.

And then after school reopened, this blog gone under so many changes. Remember the time the blog's lights was switched off? Ah, classic :) And the times random people from other schools left a "good job" message in our cbox. Also when our school got shortlisted for the Sekolah Lestari programme because of this blog :) But I admit, I did quite a bad job at consistently updating this blog. It always took like 1 month breaks. But please understand, its not advisable to blog when you've got an exam a few days ahead right? So, SORRY readers! For disappointing you!

And now, the thank you part. The first person I'd like to thank is TAN SOON CHIA! You were the Green Cube guy, but you never hesitated when helping me update this blog. I remember all those times you covered up for me, like updating random stuff when I failed to update consistently, and remeber the time you filled in my shoes when I was in Japan? Thanks buddy!

Thanks to dad too, who supervised this blog. And the whole board who always pushed me to update. Thanks to all those who updated this blog for me once or twice (Jacqueline, Davin to name a few) (Sorry if I missed out your name). Of course, thanks to you readers too! Without the readers, what is this blog ah? Hahahaha

Okay, here's the last part of this final word. My advice for future Media Guys. Hao Jia and Wayne especially. Now there's two of you, there's no excuse to not update this blog on a regular basis ya. Thats the reason why Media Guy become Media GuyS. HAHA. So here's a few things you need to keep in mind while on this job:

(1) Change the blog title.

(2) Change the layout regularly.

(3) Post regularly! :)

(4) Always post fun stuff, like random facts, or comic strips.

(5) Always have a camera during kpa events.

(6) Post regularly :P

(7) Have fun doing your job!

(8) Edit the side bars.

Despite I'm not the official guy to blog but I like to blog and I was asked to blog as well. First and foremost, I'd like to congratulate those the new board members! You are there for a reason (everything happens for a reason). The reason is TO SAVE THE NATURE! Yes, joining this club get you marks but also have to have the spirit to save the nature lah. I want to see the spirit. So does Pn. Norsalwati, Wei Loong (^.^) and also all the past members. You guys (new board members) better keep KPA's name high! Like menaikkan nama KPA ACS di seluruh Klang lah. You're not only going to get the fame but also get to serve the nature. KPA needs to do more to raise more attention. You can even supply the library (Pn. Cecilia will like this idea, MUTUALISM!) with articles. I think that's all I want to say lah. I wish you guys all the best handling this funky club. BE ACTIVE. Don't after get post all, don' tknow hilang to where. Please, be responsible. You guys are already mature, no need me to tell you all these. And KPA HIdup! :D. Take care people! The Mulu Report.

This is the official report submitted to the Co-curriculum unit of school about KPA's trip to Mulu. The original report was in BM, but for reading pleasure, I translated it to English with the help of Google Translater, and edited some mistranslations.

Note that the real report is boring and dry, and may not be the truth (Duh? Who tells the school that they came home drunk, or slept at 12 am in the morning, or didn't eat dinner together right? Yeah, even not eating dinner together during a school trip is apparently a sin). So, to make it more interesting, I've included some true statements, or what really happened in orange italic. Report on Gunung Mulu National Park Expedition

On the 1st July to the 5th July, that is, from Wednesday to Sunday, the Nature Society of SMK Methodist (ACS) Klang held an expedition to the Gunung Mulu National Park. A total of fifteen students and one retired KPA member and two teachers had participated in this expedition. Participants of this expedition were:

Day 1 - 1st July 2009 (Klang - Sepang - Miri)

Participants met at school in at 1100 hours, and departed to LCCT in Sepang at 1200 hours. After checking in and lunch (McD!) at LCCT, the participants boarded aircraft AirAsia flight AK5184 departing from LCCT to Miri at 1520 hours.

The aircraft landed at Miri International Airport at 1730 hours and, after passing through the immigration counters and baggage claim at the airport, the participants headed to the Miri accommodation, Imperial Hotel, at 1800 hours

After checking in at the hotel at 1820 hours, participants were given time to rest and refresh themselves in their rooms. (All 16 participants shared the same room. Before you get any wrong idea, it was the hotel's biggest suite, which is a room with a hall, a kitchen, a laundry room, 2 toilets and 3 rooms) All participants met in the hotel lobby at ~~1900 hours~~ 2000 hours for dinner out. The participants had dinner at Sea World Restaurant in the city centre of Miri. (Not all the participants ate here. Don, Kel, Wei Shen and Nicholas ate elsewhere. So did the teachers and Chin Keat. The rest, well, ate here. hahaha)

At ~~2000 hours~~ 2130 hours, after dinner, the participants went shopping to buy water and food needed in Mulu at the Imperal Supermarket. Participants returned to their rooms at the hotel to pack and prepare for Mulu at ~~2130 hours~~ 2230 hours - where got sleep so early one?

Don, Kelvin, Shen and Nick cam back all red-faced. We suspected they drank. And we slept at around 0000hours. It could've been earlier, BUT ~~Donovan~~ someone was so high, no one could sleep. He was teaching the boys how to pray to all the different Gods of different religions. And in the girl's room, Siro jokingly kena halau from the room, and when she got really angry, the girls freaked out. HAHAHA

Day 2 - 2nd July 2009 (Miri - Mulu)

The second day began with breakfast - kaya bread at 0600 hours. After breakfast, participants checked out form the hotel at 0800 hours, then headed to the Miri International Airport via taxi. Like in LCCT, the participants checked in at the airport before boarding aircraft MasWings MH3630 flight to Mulu Airport at 0920 hours.

The plane landed at Mulu Airport at 0940 and participants arrived at the Gunung Mulu National Park HQ at 1000. There, participants checked in and activities that would be conducted in Mulu were discussed with Park Guide.

After that, participants were given time to refresh themselves in their rooms. (no room sharing this time - we had five rooms - Room #1: Wei Loong, Yun Ming, Wei Shen, Nicholas, Room #2: Aaron, Chin Keat, Donovan, Kelvin, Room #3: Jia Huoy, Alison, Stephanie, Room #4: Siro, Khai Lynn, Hui Shi, Room #5: Teachers) At 1200 hours, participants met (we didn't MEET there laa. More like go there in groups according to our own time and all) in Mulu Cafe for lunch, and then given the opportunity to relax in their rooms before the next activity begins. Everyone, EVERYONE slept.

The first activity in Mulu was a visit to the Deer Cave and Lang's Cave. Before arriving at these cave, participants must first walk through a 3km track from the HQ to the Bat Observetoire. During the trek, participants enjoyed the beauty of the forest, while the park guide gave some information about its flora and fauna.

In Deer Cave, the participants received information about the characteristics of bats and was told that the cave is home to about 3 million bats. Thats why the cave smelled of nasty ammonia from the tonnes of bat poo. After the tour in the Deer Cave ended, the participants visited Lang's Cave. In this cave, rich in formations of stalagmites and stalagtites, the participants were given information about the formation and characteristics of these natural formations, and enjoyed the sight of the many unique variations of this lime stones.

At 1830, participants departed from Lang's Cave, and after another 3km trek, lasting half an hour, the participants arrived at the Park HQ. Participants were given ~~up to an hour~~ a long time to refresh themselves, and met at the cafe (like earlier, not MET, but went there at our own time) for dinner at ~~2000hours~~ whenever. After dinner, participants were given time to pack necassities for the next day. Most of us selpt around 0000 to 0030 hours.

* What you don't know is that before we departed from Lang's Cave, we went to the Bat Observetoire. Apparently, millions of bats will leave the cave in one large flock to hunt for food just before the sun sets. Because it was raining, they didn't come out, and we didn't get to witness this supposedly awesome scenario. SAD.

** You should've seem how the girls packed. Quote Wei Loong, "like going to war". Not exeggerating! Hahahaha they started packing at around 8.30 and took almost three hours to pack, finishing at around 12.00! The boys only started packing at 12.00, and finished packing at 12.15. NO KIDDING!

Day 3 - 3rd July 2009 (Mulu)

The third day in Sarawak, and the second in Mulu, began at 0700 with breakfast at Cafe Mulu. At 0755 hours, participants visited the luggage store in the Park HQ where the luggages were stored. After that, participants headed to the jetty at the Park HQ to take a Longboat to a few destinations along the Melinau River.

The first destination that morning was the Long House at the Sungai Batu Bungan Melinau. There, participants were given the opportunity to visit the morning market that sold handicrafts made by the indigenous of Mulu. After half an hour there, the participants returned to the boat to travel to the next destination, the Wind Cave. Rivers that formerly flowed through the cave had dried, but strong winds still blows in the chambers of this cave. Where got? It was so dry and humid in there. We were sweating like mad. After the Wind Cave, the participants headed to the Clear Water Cave. In this cave, participants were given information about the underground water systems and the underground rivers that flows in this cave. Participants also had the chance to wash their faces with the water from one of the Clear Water Cave rivers, which is believed to make the face of the washer more youthful and radiant.

After 5 hours visiting these three places, the participants continued the journey by boat Kuala Litut. After half an hour, the participants arrived in Kuala Litut, and ate the food prepared and packaged at the Park HQ - Tuna Bread for lunch.

At 1400 hours, after lunch, the participants started trekking from Kuala Litut to Camp 5. Participants had to trek 8km (it.was.very.very.very.tough) before arriving at Camp 5 four hours later, at 1800 hours. The trek was slowed down due to very very very heavy rain. After arrival at Camp 5, participants were given one hour to refresh themselves (at this point, everyone was in a horibble mood, clothes wet, bags wet, everything wet, legs were cramping, everyone was cold, not to mention exhausted), and were required to gather at the dining area for dinner at 1900 hours (some of the participants cooked, while the rest washed the dishes after). After dinner, participants were given time to pack for the Pinnacles climb the next day.

* The condition of the room was rather funny. Everyone's clothes were hanging everywhere, the floors were wet, some of us didn't have sleeping bags (thanks Cik Masturah for sharing with me your sleeping bag :) ) and everyone was giving each other massages. Priceless sight.

Day 4 - 4th July 2009 (Mulu) THE Day

The entire fourth day was used to climb the Pinnacles, or officially known as Barapi Mountain Low's Peak. Pinnacles is a Karst formation formed as a result of rainwater dissolving into sediment rocks.

The Pinnacles climb began at 0630, after breakfast at 0545 hours. The Pinnacles trek to the summit is 2400m long and its altitude is 1200m high. At 1130 hours, after 5 hours, participants successfully reached the summit Pinnacles. (Kelvin, Donovan, Wei Loong, Aaron, Nicholas and Wei Shenat around 1030 hours. The Girls, Teachers, me and Chin Keat only reached 1000m at 1130 hours. We reached the peak at around 1230 hours) At the summit, participants were given time to rest, eat lunch (food packaging - tuna bread) and take pictures. At 1230 hours 1300 hours, the participants began to descend (The descend was VERY much more tougher than the hike up, mind you) from the summit and in 1830, after 6 hours, managed to reach the bottom safely.

* The 6 boys reached the bottom really early. Cik Masturah and Jia Huoy reached at around 1700 hours. The rest arrived at around 1930 to 2000 hours.

** As emberassing as it sounds, the 8 participants did not reach the bottom by 1700 hours. According to Park Guide Protocol, a rescue team had to be dispatched if any hiker fail to reach the bottom by 1700 hours. Yeap, we were rescued by park guides. At that time, it was scary, really. With the park guide, we had to descend in pitch black, only with the light from our torch.

Hui Shi and I had our own Park Guide to guide us down, since the two of us seperated from the group earlier. You know, our park guide grew up in a long house, but has a Masters in Eco Tourism and is of orang asli descent but speaks really good and fluent English. He's one guy I respect and will never forget. He's really nice too, encouraging the two of us to persue what we like, like him, and made the rescue descend down a whole lot more comfortable for the two of us.

In Camp 5, participants are given the opportunity to bathe in the Melinau River (Endau Rompin flash back! HAHA. Only the 6 boys got the chance to do this, Darn!). After an hour for the participants to refresh themselves, the participants had dinner at ~~1930~~ 2030. After that, participants are given time to rest, sleep, and refresh items.

* Here the time period in which the participants reached the bottom:

#1 : 1330 hours - Kelvin and Donovan

#2 : 1430 hours - Wei Loong, Aaron, Nicholas and Wei Shen

#3 : 1700 hours - Cik Masturah and Jia Huoy

#3 : 1915 hours - Hui Shi and Yun Ming

#4 : 1945 hours - Siro, Khai Lynn and Stephanie

#5 : 2000 hours - Pn Nor Salwati, Chin Keat, Alison

** I slept really early, around 2100 hours. So I didn't know what happened at night. All I was told of was, a man in the neighbouring room banged on the wall and shouted "SHUT UP" cause we were too noisy, and some of them got to know a Canadian man who shared our 18 bed room and hiked the Pinnacles together. His name is Kevin and after working for a while in Canada, he decided to quit and travel the world. He's travelled Asia and the only place I remember him saying he visited was Tokyo and Malaysia.

Day 5 - 5th July 2009 (Mulu - Miri - Sepang - Klang)

The fifth day began at 0600 hours. After breakfast, participants were given time to upack their belongings, and at 0730 hours, began the 8 km trek to Kuala Litut. Participants arrived in Kuala Litut at 0930 and jorneyed to Park HQ via Longboat through the Melinau River. (Kelvin, Donovan, Wei Shen, Nicholas and Me reached Kuala Litut at 0930. The rest, at 1000)

The journey to the Park HQ via the Melinau River took half an hour. On reaching Park HQ, the participants headed to the luggage store to claim their respective baggages. After that, participants were given up to 1400 hours refresh themselves, relax and have lunch at Park HQ.

At 1410 hours, participants departed from the Park HQ to the Mulu Airport. There, participants checked in, and at 1540 hours, participants boarded aircraft MasWings flight MH 3632 to the Miri International Airport. The aeroplane landed in Miri Airport at 1600. The same procedure was done in Miri, that is, checking out and baggage claim.

After that, at 1630 hours, participants were given the opportunity to shop and dine at the city center in Miri. (More like shop, shop, shop, shop and shop. We conquered a souvenir shop in one of the malls in Mulu and 8 of us spent a total of RM600++ here!) At 2000, participants gathered at the airport before checking in again. At 2140 hours, participants boarded aircraft AirAsia flight AK 2184 (priceless moment: the air steward played black jack with us. hahahaha ) to LCCT, Sepang. The plane landed in Sepang in 2350 hours and at 0030 hours, a van was rented to take participants back to Klang. The participants arrived at school 45 minutes later, at 0115, which marked the end Nature Society's expedition to Gunung Mulu National Park. ( :(:(:( )

Last Words:

Seriously, how many clubs in ACS, or even Klang, has the opportunity to leave their foot prints in Sarawak? Mulu was the single most greatest school trip in all my 11 years in ACS, and I'm sad that its now merely a memory. Albeit, it was super awesome while it lasted.

All in all, this trip did indeed fullfill the club's motto of nature conscience and awareness. To see the Pinnacles was indeed an eye opener to the magnifisence of nature, and Mother Nature's power to form all these superb natural wonders. And to those who did not get to join this trip, I hope that listening to the story we 16 tell you will help you become more nature friendly one way or another. Trust me, the urge to want to visit such places after listening to the stories, and seeing the pictures shot, is indeed one step towards becoming more nature inclined.

Recycling Campaign #2 of 2009

The title would sound better if I wrote 2nd Recycling Campaign of 2009, right? Crap. See, my English has gone from bad to worse just within two days without school. I think this is going to be my final time blogging for KPA cause the new board are going to take over this club soon! I can't wait for AGM and also the end year trip. I'm quite excited for it. Syok sendiri siut.

Anyway, I think this time's recycling campaign is a successful one. Therefore, give yourself a clap. JUST ONE. It's all about the quantity and not quality. With about 10 people, we've contributed more than half of the papers. Yeah lah. Wei Shen, Khye Siang, Nicholas and another guy (I forgot your name already, sorry!) brought most of the papers to the Green Cube. Then Yeow Sheng, Willis, Jerry and ME cleaned the green cube yesterday. Told you it's about the quality, not the quantity. With less than 10 people, we've contributed half of the papers that were recycled yesterday. LOLOL. Kidding lah. Everyone worked hard yesterday and they've been collecting papers, driving, communicating, gossiping, some lame jokes, eat and as always, threaten to pull down my pants. THIS DON LAH. Luckily yesterday I never kena. Thanks Don, for once. I like recycling campaigns because you can actually see the spirit in these people who are working hard. Seriously, who will wake up early on a Saturday morning? Everyone wishes they could sleep as long as they could. Nope, these people came.

There's 33 people who arrived early in the morning (Aaron they all came later due to tuition). Some came wearing as if they are going to AEON (you know who you are, *Evon, Cindy, Jia Chyi*). So un-pro. LOLOL. It rained yesterday but KS papers paid us the full amount of the papers sold. It was their fault anyway, for not providing us the cloth. Thanks KS. As usual, we've collected a lot of rubbish. I don't have any pictures because I didn't bring camera there. Luckily there's two three people who brought their cameras. I guess pictures will be uploaded as soon as I get the pictures (DOH!). This time, it's really quality and not quantity. I think we finished the whole campaign before twelve o'clock. I'm not trying to say the previous recycling campaigns consist of low-quality workers. It's just this time around, the juniors worked harder! Kudos to them, really. They've done a good job. I'm proud of you all. HAHAHAHAHHA. WTH? Why should I be? LOL. Sorry lah, I can't be serious here. Who says we need to be serious in blogging? Okay lah, that's all I want to say here. I suggest Wei Loong and Yun Ming make a post about recycling campaign as well. HEHE ..

Hari 1 – 1hb Juli 2009 (Klang – Sepang – Miri)

Para peserta telah bertemu di sekolah pada jam 1100, dan telah bertolak ke LCCT di Sepang pada jam 1200. Selepas check-in dan makan tengah hari di LCCT, para peserta telah menaiki pesawat AirAsia penerbangan AK5184 yang bertolak dari LCCT ke Miri pada jam 1520.

Pesawat telah mendarat di Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Miri pada jam 1730 dan telah bertolak dari lapangan terbang ke tempat penginapan di Miri, Hotel Imperial, pada jam 1800, selepas melalui kaunter imigrasi dan baggage claim di lapangan terbang.

Selepas check in di hotel selesai pada jam 1820, para peserta diberi masa untuk berehat dan mengemas diri di bilik masing-masing. Semua peserta telah bertemu di lobi hotel pada jam 1900 untuk keluar makan malam. Restoran Seaworld, yang menghidang makanan laut, merupakan kunjungan makan malam pada hari pertama di Miri.

Pada jam 2000, selepas makan malam, para peserta telah mengunjungi Pasar Raya Imperal untuk membeli bekalan air dan makanan yang diperlukan di Mulu. Para peserta telah pulang ke bilik masing-masing di hotel untuk mengemas diri dan membuat persediaan untuk Mulu pada jam 2130.

We're all back in one piece.

So, our flight landed at 2340hours yesterday, and we only arrived at school at 0130hours. Explains why many are absent today. Hahaha

About pinnacles, it was very, very, very, very, very tough! But KPA ACS reached the top!

Hmmm and all 16 of us are walking like old grandpas now. Super sore I tell ya.

The day has finally come. Ahhh its scary.

So, the Sarawak-bounds will be leaving school at 11.00am today. If I'm not mistaken, our flight is around 1330hours, correct me if I'm wrong.

Honestly, I don't really know our itinerary, so I can't really tell you readers what's going to happen. Scary not knowing the itinerary, but exciting too. Hahaha

In case you're wondering, 16 of us are going. 2 teachers, Pn. Nor Salwati and Cik Masturah, 6 girls, Siro, Jia Huoy, Khai Lynn, Stephanie, Hui Shi and Alison, and 8 boys, Wei Loong, Wei Shen, Nicholas, Aaron, Donovan, Kelvin, Chin Keat, and of course, me.

I don't know what to say, really. I can tell you that everything's packed, but you'll probably go "duh!". Hahaha I can tell you that "the Sarawak trip is actually here!" But I've mentioned it a tonne of times already. Hmmm, but I can tell you that our flight leaves Miri at 1700hours on Sunday, 5th July. Bet'cha didn't know that.

...and I can tell you that I've got nothing else to say now, but you already know that, cause I've said it a few times here itself.

It's all too easy when you get out into the wilderness to get carried away with your own enthusiasm and try all sort of thing which, with hindsight, you quickly realize were just plain stupid. Mother Nature may be both beautiful and inviting, but she is also quite indifferent to your fate when you do something stupid.

It is very difficult to put an exact time on how long it takes to trek to the Pinnacles viewpoint. Fit and experienced trekkers should be able to reach the top in 2-3 hours. The not so fit but determined generally take around 4-5 hours. Most people spend an hour or so at the top before coming down. For many the descent is actually more difficult and therefore takes longer, so the return trip can take anything from 5 to 10 hours depending on fitness level.

After some tough climbing you finally come out onto a rocky outcrop where the stunning view provides a good reward for all the effort. The viewpoint area is made up of a number of pinnacles, rocks and vegetation and has excellent views of the silver-grey forest of stone that rises up from the surrounding vegetation. After taking some photos and a short rest and a last glimpse of the pinnacles, it is time to begin the descent back to camp 5 and the second overnight stay.

For some reason, my mind hasn't registered that I'm going to Sarawak in five days time. Weird.

The real hiking begins the following morning. The trail is 2.4 km in length but rises some 1,200 metres from Camp 5 to the viewpoint, passing through lowland dipterocarp forest before climbing steeply through moss forest. Here the trees area a lot smaller and everything is covered in slippery green moss. Limestone debris also litters the trail so trekkers must proceed with care. The last section of the trail is near vertical, with rope sections and 15 aluminium ladders strategically positioned to help with the climb. The vegetation is sparse although orchids, rhododendrons and pitcher plants thrive in the area, and can be seen at the side of the trail.

I really really really feel unfit right now.

The Pinnacles Summit Trek is usually done as 3 day/2 night trek although it is possible to do it as 2 day/1 night trek. The first stage is a 1-2 hour boat trip along the Melinau River to Kuala Berar. If the water level is low, the boat has to be pushed over rocky sections so the trip takes longer. Base Camp 5 is a relatively easy 7.8 km walk from Kuala Berar, following flat jungle terrain and taking 2-3 hours. Camp 5 is situated near the Melinau Gorge which separates Gunung Benarat from Gunung Api. There is hostel-style accommodation at the camp, and cooking facilities. The Melinau river in front of Camp 5 is crystal clear and ideal for a swim after the trek from Long Berar.

The famous Pinnacles at Mulu consist of a series of 45 metre high, razor-sharp limestone spikes that tower above the surrounding vegetation, mid-way up the slopes of Gunung Api. The trek to view them is one of the most popular in the park. But be warned, the Pinnacle Summit Trek is a tough and challenging one. The trail itself is very steep (near vertical in parts) and requires a certain level of fitness

Mission Dismissed. HAHA! It's like some sort of military mission. It is not even a mission lah. It's just a trip organised by Adrian Leong and me. YEAH, ME LAH! Who else could it be. I never intend to take over this job because it carries a lot of responsibility and it needs someone who is good at managing/organising people. I'm not the best when it comes to management. I think I'm one of the worse. I'm a very messy person. HAHA. I'd like to thank Wei Loong and teacher for giving me this eyes opening [is it that idiom ah? ...] opportunity. I've had a great time, at Genting only. I was tensed all the time actually. I was tensed in the making of the project and during the trip. My friends were worried because I looked very tensed.

Sad fact - It was unorganised. I apologize for the messiness. I owe Wei Loong and Aaron a lot. If they weren't there, I don't know how's the trip was going to end up. HAHAHA. Thanks Wei Loong and Aaron! Hehe. Others did help me out too. They helped to cool me down. I tak nak mention names lah, later this post turn private pulak? HAHA.

I'll explain briefly what we did on the first day. We depart from ACS Klang at 3pm. That was late, teachers have prayers lah okay? We have to understand. We reached Skyway around 5.30pm. My bus reached skyway around 5.30pm because MY BUS BROKE down. It delayed and wasted quite an amount of time. As soon as we reached Skyway, we went to ANIMAL KINGDOM! I'm really lazy to upload pictures, I'm sorry! I was too busy walking around until I didn't take any pictures at all. NOT AT ALL. HAHA. JACQUELINE, I made this post, can you upload them pictures please? PLEASE ... Animal Kingdom took us about half an hour. It should be longer because there are a lot of things to be seen there. I doubt any of us learned anything in Animal Kingdom. Not sure, maybe some might have learned! I just only remember this was a LAWATAN SAMBIL BELAJAR. I kena kutuk by my friends when I made an announcement on this one.

Since we didn't have much time, we hurried to SKYWAY! Heh. The Skyway is the world's fastest cable car. It's a 3.3km journey if I'm not mistaken and takes about 15 - 20 minutes. It was quick. I walked very fast to First World hotel. It was a mistake. Some of them got lost. I'M SORRY! It was my fault. I should have put some of my friends ahead to lead them so they won't go to the wrong way. Eventually all of them got into the lobby. I went to collect my keys and distribute them. Sharp at 8.30pm, the students were asked to meet at the lobby again. This time, it's for RIPLEY'S. It was pretty cool. They had a lot of fun things there. I'm sure we had learned a thing or two. Who is the tallest guy on earth? I can't remember his name but there was this really huge/tall guy who lived until 19 years old. Let's not get too carried on. After Ripley's, we went for our meal. Yeah, we ate after RIPLEY'S. I was very very hungry. We walked around and found cheap deals at BURGER KING. HAHA. I still remember the price. RM37.50 for three burger, 3 french fries, some nuggest and 3 bottomess drinks. We only had to fork out about RM13 per person. It was very filling. What a bargain. HAHA. The last event of the day was SNOW WORLD. I went in for like 5 minutes. I couldn't bare the temperature. My fingers hurt. People throw SNOW at me. Note : Not ice. LOL. Tips : Wear hoodie, like Aaron and Ying Fang. So you're head can't be hurt. Hehe.

On the second day, the students were asked to gather at the lobby SHARP at 8.30am. Some of them WOKE UP at 8.30am. Without wasting much time, we headed to collect our Theme Park passes. Then all of them were let to roam themselves. Corkscrew was under maintainance when we were there. We then waited outside of the First World cafe at 12pm for our lunch. It was good. It smelled good. They served a lot of food. I felt luxurious. HAHAHA. After lunch, most of them went back to enjoy their last 3 hours in Genting. Heh. I couldn't help but to play the indoor roller coaster. Despite it was boring and not scary at all, I SHOUTED LIKE A GIRL. HAHA. It was fun making all those shouts. LOL. Sorta LOA, I know. Then then, it was time to leave. We departed around 6pm from Genting. Reaching SMK Methodist ACS Klang around 8pm. I believe most of us had fun, right? It was too tired and I'd like to thank all of those who supported this trip. All the people who made this trip a success. Thanks a lot. Hope the next batch will make an even more outstanding trip. I'm a slacker, I know.

PS - Finally. After 1 months plus. I should be studying but I made this post. HAHA

The Cowbird is about the laziest bird of all! How lazy is the cowbird? So lazy that the female cowbird does not raise her own young! That's right, cowbirds refuse to build their own nests, incubate their own eggs or even raise their own young.

Instead, they remove the eggs of other birds from a nest of a different bird and replace the eggs with their own. About 144 bird species are known to have raised baby cowbirds in their nests.

The only bird that never falls for this trick is the American Goldfinch. But this is not because it is so smart, it's because Goldfinch parents feed thistle seed to their young and since this does not provide enough protein in the form of insects to the young cowbirds, they starve to death.

How did cowbirds become this way? Cowbirds learned to follow herds of bison for many miles over the prairies and plains during the summer. By following the herds of bison the cowbirds were able to catch and eat insects that were stirred up by the movement of the bison's feet.

Since the cowbirds became dependent on following the bison around for their daily food requirements, they did not have time to stay in one place long enough to build nests and care for their young. So the cowbirds simply deposited their eggs in the nests of other birds. A form of adoption?

How was your Earth Day? Did you even celebrate Earth Day?

My Earth Day was just a normal Wednesday school day, to be frank.

Oh, I did wish a few friends. I wished Jacqueline and Fui Teng "Happy Earth Day!" and Ee Lin quickly looked at Jac and wished her "Happy Birthday!" ...before looking at me, asking who's Birthday it was that day. Hahaha sweat moment huh? Nonetheless, had a good laugh. I wished Miss Chua too! - who asked me "Huh? Today Earth Day arr?"

I wished Dad too, who must be, at this point, glad that Earth Day/Week is over. All the hustle of planning the opening ceremony, and those activities. Headache I tell you. Well, this is a note for Dad:

"Great job Dad, on planning out Earth Day. I know you were under alot of stress, and sorry, really really sorry for stressing you out more with certain issues. You know which issues I'm talking about right? The one about the opening ceremony and all. Yeah, I admit, I acted like a downright bratty jerk, and I'm really sorry I didn't cooperate with you. I hope you accept my apologies."

Hahaha to those who hadn't the slightest clue what that was all about, just ignore.

So here's the breakdown of Earth Day/Week:

On Monday, we had our Opening Ceremony. The entire school sang Hajau together, and from what I saw, Pn Rabiah certainly was enjoying singing. Other than that, Mr Thiaga broke ice to open the event.

Tuesday was Nature Hunt Day. It was serious fun. The rapping, the 'yummy' salad, the mud-digging action. Yeahh. Hahaha too bad I didn't really get to see the teams in action. I was checkpoint-ing. Albeit, I got to see every team rap, which was serious joy. Hahaha hats off to Chester's team, who managed to, somehow, associate Nature with Politics.

Wednesday was Earth Day of course. But nothing big happened actually. Crossword puzzles were selling good since Day 1. And there were participations in Nature on Film too. Lots of nice shots we had there. Good luck to Dad and Aaron, and Pn Norsalwati in choosing the best picture for 1st prize.

So I guess thats all for Earth Day/Week. Hahaha I still don't know if it was Day or Week. But, oh well. Heh. In case I get really slothy again, do pinch me in school and remind me to update on these:

This year, Earth Hour has been transformed into the world’s first global election, between Earth and global warming.

For the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote – Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. WWF are urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes, which will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009.

This meeting will determine official government policies to take action against global warming, which will replace the Kyoto Protocol. It is the chance for the people of the world to make their voice heard.
